Enable Assessment provides functionality to create assessments to check learner’s knowledge via quizzes using multiple question types including multiple choice and image questions.

Assessments are attributed to modules to test if the users have successfully completed the learning activities.

Administrators can:

  • Create, duplicate and edit multi-question assessments.
  • Include text or image based multiple choice questions and customise feedback messages.
  • Set pass marks, time limits, attempt limits, mandatory questions and randomise question ordering.
  • Manage assessments with the help of advanced filtering.
  • Assign assessments to multiple courses or assign course multiple assessments.
  • Set mandatory assessments that must be passed by the learner to receive an award/certificate.
  • Automatically mark assessments. Access results via reports.

Users can:

  • Access and complete assessments.
  • Can also review their assessments after completion and submission

Creating an Assessment

Select create and then enter the title of your assessment, description and image if required.

The Assessment Editor allows you to create the structure of the assessment, create the questions and the grading.

At any point you can preview, save draft, publish and exit the assessment.

  • Preview – This opens up the assessment in a new browser tabs a learner would see it. The answers will not be recorded as this is simply a tool for reviewing the assessment publishing it.
  • Save Draft – This will save the assessment in a draft state, maintaining the first version. You may then come back and amend it when necessary.
  • Publish – This will save and publish the assessment so that it can be used within the assessment editor. Once published the assessment will lose its draft status and will be ‘Version 1’, the next time it is published, it will become ‘Version 2’.
  • Exit – This will close the ‘Assessment editor’ and return back to the ‘Assessments’ page within the ‘Content Creation’ tile.

Assessment Properties

The Details tab is where the previously input assessment details are. These can be edited. 

The Settings tab allows you are able to set if the learner receives feedback on the questions they have answered, choose if the questions are randomised, if the assessment is timed and what the pass mark is.

The Intro tab a customer introductory message can be configured with a heading and a rich text body. This will appear to the learner on a page before the first question. 

The Feedback tab allows you to set custom success and fail messages which appear to the learner on completing the assessment. Default success/fail messages will already be present, although clicking in the tick box next to the desired text box allows for custom text to be added. 

Assessment Questions

To add questions, select the Add Question button or select the first question.

The Details tab within a question lets you enter the question title, question details (if required). This box also has rich text enabled, help text (if required) and if the question is mandatory or not.

The Answers tab lets you add the answers to the question, you can choose if the all of the answers are correct for the question, or only some of the answers are correct. You can also select if it is an image question. For an image question you will can to upload an image and provide alternative text. Please note that the default correct answer will always be the first answer on the assessment builder so we recommend mixing up where your correct answer will appear.

Once you have added your question, select 'Save Draft' as you go.

Assessment Management

Now that you have published the assessment, this will appear in the Assessments list in the Content Creation.

If you click on the three dots (⋮) next to any certificate, it will reveal four options: Preview, Versions, Duplicate and Delete.

  • Preview – This launches the certificate in a new browser tab/window so that it can be previewed without any data needing to be recorded on a learner record.
  • Versions – This opens the ‘Manage Versions’ pop-up box for the specific certificate. Version notes can be viewed here as well as previous versions. If the certificate is newly uploaded, then this will only display the initial version. 
  • Duplicate – This allows you to duplicate the certificate into a ‘Draft’ state. You can edit it and then save as completely new certificate.
  • Delete – This allows you to delete the certificate from the LMS. However, please be aware that certificates cannot be deleted if it is being used within a module.
