Creating a module

Before you start building your module, you will need to ensure all the components you want to add to the module have been uploaded or built within the Content Creation sections.

To build a new course, select 'Create'.

Input the name of the module, description and image.

The ‘Module Editor’ allows you to create the structure of the module.

At any point you can preview, save draft, publish and exit the module.

  • Preview – This opens up the module in a new browser tab as a learner would see it. The answers will not be recorded as this is simply a tool for reviewing the module before publishing it.
  • Save Draft – This will save the module in a draft state, maintaining the first version. You may then come back and amend it when necessary.
  • Publish – This will save and publish the assessment so that it can be used within the module editor. Once published the module will lose its draft status and will be ‘Version 1’, the next time it is published, it will become ‘Version 2’.
  • Exit – This will close the ‘Module editor’ and return back to the ‘Modules’ page within the ‘Content Creation’ tile.

Adding content to your module

In the structure view of your module, under the module overview node, Select Add New.

You can now add content to your module by selecting the type of content and then the content you want to add.

SCORM, Document and Videos can be added inline while you're inside the module editor. If you wish to add Assessments, Evaluations or Certificates you will need to create and publish those first.

Within each content you can set it to be locked on start of module, ensuring learners go through the module in a prescribed order.

You can override the default details of the piece of content, such as replacing the name and description.

Ordering content

You can reorder content in your module. Select and hold the content you wish to move and drag and drop it in place.

Saving and publishing

While you are creating your module, you can save it as a draft or save and publish.

  • Save as draft – Your module will keep its current state, but it will not be accessible in allocation.
  • Publish – Publishing your module will create a new version and allow it to be allocated to learners.

Managing Modules

If you click on the three dots (⋮) next to any module, it will reveal four options: Preview, Versions, Duplicate and Delete.

  • Preview – This launches the certificate in a new browser tab/window so that it can be previewed without any data needing to be recorded on a learner record.
  • Versions – This opens the ‘Manage Versions’ pop-up box for the specific certificate. Version notes can be viewed here as well as previous versions. If the certificate is newly uploaded, then this will only display the initial version.
  • Duplicate – This allows you to duplicate the certificate into a ‘Draft’ state. You can edit it and then save as completely new certificate.
  • Delete – This allows you to delete the certificate from the LMS. However, please be aware that certificates cannot be deleted if it is being used within a module.

Adding an Assessment to a module

You can add an assessment to a module the same way you add any other component but there are additional settings you can select.

You can set the assessment to "Is Critical", if the learner fails the assessment they instantly fail the complete module.

You can set the assessment to have a limited amount of attempts for learners.
